Conclusions

  1. BlueMarble Enterprises have a need to update and further develop their knowledge management system which currently is supported by the business’ current systems and intranet.
  2. There is a very clear and distinct need for a quality and well-integrated knowledge management system within businesses as this allows the organisation to retain and maintain its intellectual capital for competitive advantage.
  3. They have been provided with a series of options which will allow them to update and develop their knowledge management system, two of which have been selected and analysed.
  4. Both the Scrum and Effective Technical and Human Implementation of Computer Systems (ETHICS) methodologies have been discussed and analysed within this report. They have also been compared and contrasted against each other to further determine which approach to implement.
  5. QUICKethics is a sister methodology which has been identified and further integrated into this report as an option for BlueMarble Enterprises to consider.  

Recommendations

  1. QUICKethics would be the most suitable methodology for updating and further improving BlueMarble Enterprises knowledge management system.
  2. It is recommended that BlueMarble Enterprises utilise tools such as digital activity and team work tracking tools to further enhance the knowledge creation experience for their employees.
  3. Once knowledge creation within BlueMarble Enterprises is at a satisfactory level, it Is recommended that digital tools such as Google Docs or Trello, or vocal/audio recording are used to fully capture the knowledge created during group work.
  4. Once these recommendations are implemented, BlueMarble Enterprises should find that their overall trajectory for gaining competitive advantage within their industry has improved.
